Working for the Bradford Youth
Offending Team
Bradford YOT is a multi-agency partnership consisting of Social
Services, Education Bradford, Police, Probation, Health and a range of
partners including Youth Service, Nacro, etc. Details of our
range of partners can be found on this website.
The Bradford YOT and its partners often advertise for staff to
work with young offenders. There are a number of different posts
and each job has its own job description. When applying it is
important to follow the guidance that comes with the application
form and demonstrate how you meet the essential and desirable
criteria contained in the job description and job specification.
These posts involve working directly with young offenders, their
parents, courts and victims. They involve assessing the risk
factors that lead to offending and then working with the young
offenders to address the risk factors and stop them offending.
To work with the Bradford YOT and its partners you need to
demonstrate your ability to communicate, motivate and be a
positive influence on young people. In order to demonstrate this
you will need to evidence direct experience of working with young
people at risk.
Experience can be gained in many areas of previous employment but
many people who feel they need to build up sufficient experience
find that volunteering with us (or other agencies) can help.
Volunteering helps applicants without work experience in a related
field show that they have an aptitude to work with young people at
risk and also help candidates check that it really is the job for
them. Bradford YOT recruits volunteers to work as Mentors, Referral
Order panel members and Appropriate Adults. Fore more

our Volunteering Co-ordinator Anne Grange on 01274 436060.
The Bradford YOT supports its staff through induction, regular
supervision and training with many staff undertaking the new
Professional Certificate in Effective Practice (PCEP).
