The Youth Justice Board’s
Making Good Initiative
Making Good has been created to showcase youth
reparation work, as well as to provide a focal point
for the public to suggest ideas for local reparation
projects. 14 YOTs in the Yorks & Humber region
signed up to take part in the scheme and the YJB are
asking them to pilot Making Good from 18 March 2010.
During this time the public will be able to nominate
suggestions on the
website.
The YJB will receive and review the suggestions,
forwarding suitable ideas on to the relevant YOT to
consider for implementation.
Members of the public will be able to suggest
reparation projects in the Yorks & Humber region.
Suggestions must:
- be meaningful and beneficial to the local community and to young offenders
- not take paid work away from others
- not make a profit for anyone
First Time Entrants (FTE)
Bradford has shown a 50% reduction in First Time
Entrants
(FTE) in the Youth Justice system in since 2005/6.
This is significantly better than the Regional
average of 12% and National average of 6%.
This results in fewer victims of crime and less
young people with
criminal records that may hamper their chance of
getting future
employment.
