Interventions > Drugs and Alcohol
Bradford YOT recognises the high levels of alcohol
and other drug use and misuse among young offenders
and the relationship this behaviour may have to both
mental/physical health and patterns of offending and
reoffending.
Those who work in youth justice organisations must
work to promote health and prevent ill-health
occurring in these young people. To support this,
the ASSET screening tool enables the youth justice
services to identify young people who are using or
are at risk of using alcohol or other drugs in
problematic ways.
The YOT has established a referral and care pathway
to enable these young people to access the Districts
substance misuse services in partnership with the
District's Young Peoples Drug and Alcohol Service (YPDAS).
YPDAS is a team comprised of staff from Children’s
Social Care Alcohol and Drugs Team, Bridge Young
Person and Family Service and Bradford District NHS
Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS)>
It is a dedicated Young Peoples Drug and Alcohol Service offering advice, information, training and support to young people , their parents/carers and professionals:
