Justart is a project, which, in association with Bradford’s Youth Offending Team, works with young people aged 13 to 17, who are subject to a variety of Orders, including Final Warning, and who have been excluded from school. Justart offers art and craft-based sessional activities in an amenable and supportive environment, training opportunities in I.T. and participation in community outreach projects.

It aims, through a creative approach, to build skill levels, raise self-esteem and help to reintegrate disaffected young people into the community. It encourages personal development, provides records of achievement and acts as a gateway for further educational and vocational opportunities.

Justart is a part of Kirkgate Studios and Workshops; a well established Community Arts Centre in central Shipley with a friendly, informal and stimulating atmosphere, where regular users have shown a willingness to share their experience, knowledge and skills.

Justart offers a range of opportunities for young people to develop their creativity and learn practical skills using a wide range of materials and techniques including:

Creative 3D workshop
Participants have the chance to develop their creativity and learn practical skills using a wide range of materials and techniques. Through sharing and exploring ideas they will be encouraged to devise their own projects. With guidance and supervision they will be involved in a variety of processes in the course of designing and making 3D objects. In each session tangible results will be seen as steps towards the completion of a more involved piece of finished work, which may be functional, constructional, sculptural or whimsical.

2D Vision
Individuals are encouraged to develop their interests and ideas and produce work in a range of visually expressive media. They will be introduced to a wide range of visual stimuli and offered tuition and the chance to experiment using a variety of techniques and materials in producing sketches, studies, collages, montages, and in designing, drawing and painting.  The project accepts referrals from the Youth Offending Team for young offenders at various points in the Criminal Justice System.

Justart is one of the ranges of volunteering options open to the Youth Offending Team and is supported by NACRO. For further information contact:
