Custodial Detention > Section 91
For young people who commit grave
crimes - they can be sentenced by the courts to be detained in
custody under Section 91 Powers of Criminal Courts (Sentencing)
Act 2000.
These cases are dealt with in Crown Courts and the young person would need to
be convicted of:
- An offence punishable in the
case of an adult with 14 years or more imprisonment
- Indecent assault as a man or
women
- Causing death by dangerous driving
In addition, the same criteria apply as to a custodial sentence regarding protection of the public.
