ContactPoint

Bradford YOT has agreed to sponsor the C.A.C.I. ContactPoint solution for YOIS working in partnership with the 'Wiring Up Youth Justice team.

There will be a link to a secure website added shortly.

Bradford’s Successful ContactPoint Accreditation
The critical Type Accreditation of the Bradford Youth Offending Team (YOT) for ContactPoint, mandated by the government, has been accomplished. Responsible for this important achievement are the Bradford ContactPoint Team, Bradford YOT, and CACI, the supplier,
who worked together to achieve this.

Every Case Management System (CMS) that is going to connect to ContactPoint (CPt) must gain Type Accreditation as a government mandate.  This is to ensure that your CMS can handle all the technical aspects of connecting, sending and retrieving data. Type Accreditation is equivalent to factory testing of a product.

By leading on this and carrying out the Type Accreditation, Bradford has ensured that none of the other approximately 106 Local Authorities or YOT Teams that use the CACI YOIS software has to undertake this work. Bradford can now “write the book” on this procedure for others!

Further work is currently in progress to gain the next stage of accreditation for YOT - Instance Accreditation - and we hope to complete this by the end of this year.

On 2 October 2009, the Government launched a public consultation on amendments to the ContactPoint regulations (the rules governing ContactPoint). For full details, go to the DCSF consultation page and read the full press notice.

ContactPoint provides a quick way for authorised practitioners in different services to find out who else is working with the same child or young person. This will make it easier for them to work as a team and deliver faster, more coordinated support.

ContactPoint is an online directory, available to authorised staff who need it to do their jobs. It is a tool to help improve the well-being of all children, keep them safe and ensure that no child slips through the net of support services. It is a key element of the Every Child Matters (ECM) programme, to transform children's services by supporting effective prevention and early intervention.

Information about ContactPoint, its development and plans for implementation is provided and is divided into the following sections:

  • About ContactPoint explains how ContactPoint works and who will use it, and provides fact sheets and other useful documents
  • Access and security provides an overview of the security of ContactPoint, who can access it and the security controls in place
  • Information for young people, parents and carers provides resources to better understand ContactPoint and how it will affect you
  • Legislation explains the legal basis for ContactPoint
  • Background and trailblazers includes case studies on the practitioners involved in local 'trailblazer' pilots.
