Awards > The Roger Davy Award
Roger Davy has recently retired after
34 years on the Bradford Youth and Adult Magistrate
Courts. He has been a keen advocate of the
development of the Youth Offending Team and used his
time on the national magistrates youth panel to
advocate our work in Bradford.
Roger has a keen interest in young people and has
supported our education programme particularly the
development of ‘The Academy’ and the Showcase events
at the Alhambra Theatre.
Roger has made a donation to help motivate and
encourage young people to continue their education
and to achieve their ambitions. The special award
will be made to the young person who has most
impressed the organisers of the bi annual
YOT/Connexions Bradford achievement event.
Roger has said Magistrates are not a social workers
and we walk a fine line between up holding the law
and pointing young people in the right direction –
so they can improve their lives!
The first award was made at the Award Ceremony
on 24 November 2008 when Roger made the award
accompanied by his wife Barbara.
